Zarinah Muhammad was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Zarinah Muhammad possesses three degrees: a bachelors of science in secondary education, a masters degree for teaching English as a second language, and a Juris Doctorate law degree.  Zarinah Muhammad is licensed to practice law in the state of Nevada but plans to gain licensure in California, Colorado, and Washington state.
